Sutta Punav

Celebrated in the month of Shravan on a full moon day, GSB men worship and change the sacred thread. In northern India, this day is celebrated as Raksha Bandhan. In Maharashtra this is celebrated as Narli Poornima.

In the temple a yajna is performed by the vaidiks followed by the ceremony of adorning the Lord Shree Ram with new yajnopavitam (sacred thread). On completion of yajna, the elders sanctify the yajnopavitam(sacred thread), replace the old yajnopavitam by the new one, removing the old one from under the feet and wearing the new one from overhead.
