The Parampara of Sri Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam math had a long line of 23 bright Suns heading it. HH Sri Vidyadheesh teerth swamiji , 24th in succession is already a promising uttaradhikari. Though Swamiji has been on the Gurupeetha for less than a year (at the time of writing this), HH has taken up religious and social works fit for carrying the tradition forward.

Sri Uday Bhat Sharma was born on an auspicious day of Sri Shalivahana Shaka 1917, Yuva samvatsara Ashvija Krishna Saptami Somavar in Kasarkod of Honavar in uttara kannada district in Karnataka. Father Sri Lakshminarayan Bhat (wife Smt. Padmavati Bhat) belongs to the archaka family of Vader math, Bhatkal. He was appointed by Guru Sri Vidyadhiraj teerth to look after pourohitya at Vidyadhiraj Bhavan in Belgaum.

Sri Uday Bhat had primary and secondary education in Belgaum and was studying Mechanical engineering when the call came from Sri Math to succeed and carry forward the tradition of the Math. Right from young age Sri Uday Bhat was withdrawn from fun and frolics. He used to be concentrated in studies and helped his father in pourohitya. His personality was ingrained with Stability behaviour. The day he reached partagali math was very auspicious. Sri Shalivahana Shaka 1936, Jaya samvatsara jyeshta Krishna paksha Dvitiya.(30.5.2014). It was also the punyadina of the Great Sage Srimad Poornaprajna teerth swamiji. (18th peethadhipati)

Vidyabhyasa started on an auspicious muhurta Jyeshta shukla panchami, pushya nakshatra. HH Srimad Vidyadhiraj teerth Swamiji Himself taught the subjects needed to give Nirnaya on various dharmic subjects. Sri Uday Bhat learnt the numerous smritis and shrutis from Guru. Also ganita and jyotishya. Two Scholars from the famous Navaratna family stayed in partagali and taught Sanskrit, Vyakarana, Tarka and also began the studies of the basic Sarvamula granthas of Sriman Madhvacharya.

Sri Uday Bhat was very much serious in learning and used to get up at 5 AM and study till late night. There were totally 5 sessions of teaching in a day. Truly, Sri Uday Bhat, Sharma imbibed the shastra rapidly like the illustrious predecessors.

The initiation in to Sanyasa ashrama was conducted in Partagali and the mantropadesha from Guru was on Magha triyodashi morning at 9.22 AM and bestowed with name Srimad Vidyadheesha teertha. (On 9.02.2017). After being formally initiated into Sanyasa HH Shishya Swamiji continued to learn under the able guidance of Guru Swamiji. The two Pandits continued to stay in the Partagali math premises to teach advanced subjects. They also accompanied Swamiji during travel to various places. In just 5 to 6 years Shishya Swamiji attained mastery over Shastra and Vedantic subjects. In the meantime Guru Swamiji has made Shishya familiar with the administration of the Mula math at Partagali and the branch mathas spawning over a large area of several states.

Guru Swamiji attained Hari Pada on Plava Samvatsara Ashada Krishna Dashami. As is the custom Srimad Vidyadheesh teerth swamiji's pattavhisheka was done on twelfth day. Right from day one HH Srimad Vidyadheesh teerth swamiji is looking after the Samsthan and the anuyayis of the math in the path laid down by the illustrious predecessors. We are sure to see some great social and religious works to be initiated by HH. We are very fortunate that Sri Rama and Sri Veera Virtual has blessed us with such an exceptional leader to take us forward .
