Navchandi Havan is performed every year on the Ninth Day of Navratri Festival in Ashwin Shudha Navami at the temple.
A havan is performed as per the shastras. In this function married women are invited for ”Savashinis Pooja” and small girls are invited for ” Kumari Pooja ”. The savashinis are informed earlier as they have to take ritual bath and avoid eating rice items. Even for kumari pooja the same follows.
Before the lunch the ladies and girls are made to sit on a mat/table the yajman of the homam follows the ritual of first washing and wiping the feet, the spouse of the yajman offering haldi kumkum and flowers, along with akshath in their Vhonti and dakshina to “Savasinis”. Young girls are given only dakshina and gifts (as vhonti is only for married women).
