History of Shree Ram Mandir

To support the members of GSB society a plot of land in Wadala, a central place in Mumbai was acquired and a building was constructed. In the year 1955, it was declared open by Shrimad Sudheendra Teerth Swamiji of Kashi Math. This was developed as an institution of cultural and social activities for a large section of the people settled in the economic heart of India. Programs for monetary help to deserving students and also to the aged were started by Swamiji from here.

Further to this, a temple was built and the Idols of Shree Ram, Shree Lakshman and Sitadevi were consecrated on February 7,1965 the day of Magh Shudha Shashti. The temple was inaugurated by the then mathadipati parampujya H.H. Shrimad Dwarkanath Teerth Shripad Vader Swamiji.

Trivia : Every Ram temple has Hanuman moorthi installed. The same was true for this as well. Before the inauguration of the temple Paramguru Shrimad Dwarakanath Teerth had a divine thought. There is an ancient Hanuman temple in front of Rama Mandir Wadala on the other side of the road. He thought Hanuman there was happy that His Lord was going to be present just facing Him. He did not want another separate pratima of Himself in Wadala math. So, the Hanuman pratima remained in Partagali.
